Your first workflow, in five steps

Getting started with FlowPress is simple. In just a few minutes, you can create your first automation and start connecting events on your site.

This guide walks you through the five basic steps.

Install the plugin

First, install and activate FlowPress on your WordPress site.

  • Go to Plugins → Add New
  • Search for FlowPress
  • Click Install Now, then Activate

Once activated, you’ll see a new FlowPress menu in your dashboard.

Pick a trigger

A trigger is the event that starts your workflow.

Go to FlowPress → Add New Workflow, then choose what should start the automation.

Examples:

  • A user registers on your site
  • A subscription is created (ProfilePress / PMPro)
  • A visitor views a page
  • A form is submitted

💡 Tip: Triggers are grouped by source (WordPress, ProfilePress, WooCommerce, etc.), so you can easily find what you need.

Add a condition

Conditions let you control when your workflow should run.

Instead of running for every event, you can filter based on specific criteria.

Examples:

  • Only run if the user role is Subscriber
  • Only run if the subscription plan is Pro
  • Only run if order total is greater than a certain amount

💡 You can combine multiple conditions to create more advanced logic.

If you don’t add a condition, the workflow will run every time the trigger fires.

Add your action

An action is what FlowPress should do after the trigger happens.

After selecting a trigger, choose one or more actions such as:

  • Send an email
  • Add a user to Mailchimp or Brevo
  • Update user meta
  • Assign a user role
  • Send a webhook

You can also chain multiple actions together to create more advanced workflows.

Test & activate

Before going live, it’s important to test your workflow.

  • Trigger the event manually (e.g., register a test user)
  • Check that the action runs correctly
  • Review logs if needed

Once everything works as expected:

  • Toggle the workflow to Active

🎉 Your automation is now live.

What’s next?

Now that you’ve created your first workflow, you can:

  • Add multiple conditions for advanced logic
  • Connect your email service integrations like Brevo or MailerLite
  • Build multi-step automations with delays

FlowPress is designed to grow with your needs—start simple, then expand as you go.
